5 Steps To Start An Internet Business

So, you want to start an internet business? Well, I've made millions online and I made 3.4 million dollars last year. And I'm going to show you 5 steps you can take to starting your very own internet business. I've taught thousands of people how to start their own internet businesses. And hopefully this will help you start your own. Let's get into it. 

So, starting an internet business is a super honorable pursuit because it gives you that freedom you want of location. And you get freedom of time. All you have to do is work from an internet connection. You can be anywhere in the world. And it's so exciting. That was the reason why I started my internet business. And I've traveled all over the world over 50 countries while I was running my business making a pretty good amount of money. And it's been so exciting this journey. I'm home more often but I make a lot of money and I have the freedom to do whatever I want with my time. So that's really exciting. And I applaud you for doing that. I'm going to go over the 5 steps I would take to start an internet business. 

Now, the first thing you want to do is you want to do research on your particular business that you're trying to start. There's a number of different businesses that you can start on the internet. There's e-commerce which is selling goods on amazon, ebay or you know, drop shipping via shopify. There's also starting an ad agency. So you can offer marketing services to other companies around the world and charge them money. Okay? For offering your marketing services to them. Or you could do what I do which is affiliate marketing which doesn't require any customers support. It doesn't require any sort of product or shipping or fulfillment. Or all of those kind of hassles that e-commerce has. Other sorts of businesses you can start online include consulting where you can work with individuals or coaching and consulting. They're kind of 2 sides of the same coin. Where you offer individuals or businesses advice on how they could do whatever they want to do better. You could build software. You could build application or software apps. 

Either as an agency or just to make money off upon a recurring basis. And what you can also do is be an influencer and make money from your prominent son, Instagram or YouTube or Facebook or whatever platform it is. That you're using. So, there's a number of different business models within the internet realm. But understanding how each of them work is important. And understanding what's available and what's real. Now, there are other opportunities that people may name that you can do. Like you know... Just click on ads and random stuff. But there's also a lot of scams that you need to understand out there. So, do you your research on the business model before you jump into it. You're not just going to click on an ad one day and suddenly wake up with a million dollars in your bank account. That's not how it happens. Do your research on the business model that you're interested in going into. 

Next thing you want to do about whatever business that you're interested in or businesses that you're interested is learn. And you're doing that right now. Learn... Watch a bunch of YouTube,  Articles. Frankly. Just watch a bunch of YouTube  Articles on whatever topic it is that you're most interested in. Let's say it's consulting or let's say it's starting and ad agency or let's say it's affiliate marketing or E-commerce. Learn. Spend time learning. Grab a bunch of YouTubers in that specific topic and just keep learning. Google things. Understand the business model and get a sense for what the ins and the outs and the moving pieces in that business model are. So you can become familiar with the jargon, with the verbage, with the words. And ultimately, that will give you a much better chance of succeeding in whatever you're going into. Now, after you've done a bit of research and you've learned about the business models that are available to you which ever ones you're interested in. You need to decide, okay? This is the time where you need to decide and what you want o do, okay? What business model are you most interested in. And are you going to really deep dive learn about? Okay? So, I'd say learn about specific business model that you think you're more up to. You know? For affiliate marketing, I would say, obviously, it's more marketing prone. You know, if you like putting up ads and if you like... You know, it's kind of a mixture of empathy of kind of like understanding people and needs and desires of what people want. 

And it's also little bit of kind of just mathematical stuff. Kind of like understand split testing and analysis. E-commerce is really fit for accountants because there's... In e-commerce, there's lots of accounting you have to do. You have to spend a lot of money. And you have to come out a lot of money and you have to do a lot of product analysis. Becoming an influencer is good for people who are great networkers and great on social media and who look good or don't look good or sound good, etc. And consulting and running an agency is very good for people who are good at management whereas consulting is really good for people who are good at sales and good at selling themselves. That's sort of similar agency as well. So, once you've decided upon what you want to do and you've done your research, etc. You want to take deep dive into things. I would recommend taking a step by step course. And some people will say, "Oh, John. You're just trying to... You sell a marketing course. You're just trying to get people by your marketing course." Well, you suck. No, it's fine. I'm joking. But what you want to do is you want to deep dive into things. Because there's purpose for education. It's step by step by step. It's chronological. If you Google amazon FBA or how to start an ad agency on Google, you will find 10 gazillion results. There's a million ways to do things. And on the internet, likely what you get is a piece by piece ways of doing things. You'll have to... Frankenstein everything together. 

The reason I came out with an educational course on affiliate marketing was to give people a step by step process to follow for 6 weeks. Take them from knowing nothing to having their affiliate marketing business set up and hopefully generating sales. Now, whatever you decide to do, you know, I'm one teacher and affiliate marketing is one business model. It's not the only business model. It's not necessarily the best business model. But it's the one I happen to know most about. There are other experts such as Alex Becker in e-commerce. Or Sam Ovens in Consulting. Tai Lopez teaches how to start an add agency. But in general, what you want to do is you want to take a course. Really, I'd say there's 2 big requirements. There are 2 big ways you can select your teacher is, you know, ask you self (1) have they done it? Okay? Have they actually done it? Or are they just selling it? Okay? And now, I'm not going to name names here. But there are some gurus out there who are quite prominent on YouTube who sell it but they haven't actually done it before. 

You know? And personally, I don't know if Tai Lopez has actually ever ran a social media marketing agency. I don't know. I think... But who knows? I don't know him that well. But the point is, there are gurus out there who sell it but haven't actually done it. And that's kind of dangerous. Because then you're getting second hand knowledge. And then there's a second thing to ask yourself is does this person have what I want to have, okay? And if you're learning from a teacher who is living in dinky house who doesn't have a lot of money, who isn't very rich and you want to become rich, that's not a good person to learn from. Learn from somebody who has, who is where you want to be. And there's a whole reason why I don't think college is always for business students as the best idea but whatever. We won't go into that. 

So, do a deep dive. Give a step by step plan. This will accelerate your success. If you have all the time in the world, feel free. You know? Like, just learn stuff for free for a long time. But again, that's a dangerous route because there are real cost to running a business and there are real cost to your time. You know, there's so much material on the internet right now. It's not all step by step. And number 5 is after you've gone through all of this, COMMIT, okay? Commit yourself for 6 months. Okay, that may sound pretty hard and pretty drastic. And you may say, "Well, you know, I'm millenial. I want to keep my options open, man. You can't tell me what to do for 6 months." It's okay. Do what you want. Keep your options open, be a little loose butterfly and do what you want. Frankly I don't care what you do. Okay? But the reality is the biggest problem I've seen with younger people is that they can't commit themselves for any period of time. 

They jump around from thing to thing to thing. You will never have success going from one thing to other to the other to the other to the other. It doesn't happen that way. Think of it like a race, okay? This is the starting line. This is the finish line, okay? If you have a bunch of people that are going to go on a race, this person runs very slowly. This person runs very fast. But then they decide to do something different. And they run fast and the decide to do something different. They run fast and the decide to do something different. Even if this person is super fast, if the last smart or whatever person just continues on, slowly but surely, that person will win. Now, I don't know programming. I don't have any technical skills. I'm not necessarily... You know, I didn't do well in school. But I stick to things. I'm focused. And the reason why I've been successful and why some of my peers haven't is because I've stayed the same track for a relative period of time. 

Now, my friends who are more successful. I have friends who have much more money than me. The reason they've been more successful for me or one of the patterns I've seen is they've stayed in the same path for many more years, okay? They just stuck to it. You know, I've this one friend, Steve. We started a business together back in 2013 . And I changed businesses. I ran a business with him for years or so. Yeah, I was a little over a year I think. Then I changed businesses. Because I wanted to do affiliate marketing. Then I start affiliate marketing. And within a few years later I was making multiple millions per year. Where Steve, Steve now runs a business that does... I don't know, something like, 20 to 50 million dollars per year. Way more than me. It's because he stuck to it. And all of my friends who've I've seen become massively successful have stuck to the same thing for just a longer period of time. But they've been committed. And they've figured out a way to make it work. So, that's what I encourage you to do. Hopefully this gives you an idea of 5 steps to starting an internet business. One of the main differences between poor people and rich people is the way they think. Yes, that's the foundation of everything different between those two types of people. In light of that, what are the different aspects of this "poor person mentality" that need to be changed in order to think like the rich? In today's episode, I'm going to break it down for you, check it out.

Hey, I'm John Crestani, I'm an entrepreneur. And in this Article, I'm going to go over the 8 key differences between poor and rich people in terms of their mentality which is the most important thing that you can have. if you want to become successful. Keep reading and I'm going to explain all of the key differences to help you on that path to success if you're with me. Money ain't that bad, right? Well, unfortunately there are a lot of people who think it is. And in this Article, I'm going to go over the mindset differences the poor versus the rich. But it's important for you to understand and I don't say this to brag. But I've made tens of millions of dollars in my business. And I earn in the top 1% of people in the United States for years. I became a millionaire in my 20s. And I run a business that does roughly seven million dollars per year without any employees. 

So, I say that not to impress you but to speak hope you understand that I'm speaking from a place of some experience. Not as much as most. And not where I want to be. But hopefully I can convey a little bit of information to you about the differences between poor versus rich that you may not be learning in colleges. And obviously money ain't that bad so let's not get too caught up in it. Let's get our minds straight. 

Now, first thing to understand is poor people react. Poor people react to the notifications on their phone. Poor people react to the requests of others. Reacting to others will leave you in a cycle where you never fully define yourself. Rich people make others react to them. So, that's the important thing to understand between these 2. Now, for me, I realized that this was causing me to... It was taking up a lot of my time. And I actually turned off all notifications on my phone. I deleted social media apps from my phone. I get a text message, nothing happens. That little light, it doesn't blink. The buzzer, it never goes off. When that somebody calls me, it never rings. When somebody calls me, that blinky light never lights up because I've made it so that I am never reacting to others. Others only react to me. And when I need to check my text messages or my emails, I go on my phone when I choose. As opposed to others telling me where my mind should go. 

The next key distinction between poor verse rich mentality is that poor people give advice. You may have heard of the old dodge. We have two ears and one mouth. And that holds true for anything in life. You should be always be a better listener than you are an advice giver. Whenever I'm around people, I ask questions. Whenever I go in a lift cab or an uber, I sit in the front seat and I asked that person about what is the local economy like. What is your culture like? What is the country are from like? I ask a million questions but I never offer advice. That's how you train your brain. That's how you learn. Giving advice doesn't serve you. 

So, the next thing to understand is poor people watch. Whereas wealthy people read. I don't know how to explain this other than. You're going to get more knowledge from books. Watching TV and doing passive kind of passive kind of entertainment methods or outlets is not a way to train your brain to learn more. It's not a way to train your imagination to think of creative or original thoughts. Watching just allows you to experience life vicariously. Whereas reading allows you to create, you know, it forces your imagination to open up. It forces your mind to think on a higher level whereas the TV forces you to tune down and turn down your energy. Have you ever tried to talk to somebody who's been watching TV for an hour? And they're like this and you try to say something to them but they don't hear you? It's because your brain literally shuts down while you're watching screens or movies. You can't process things. You're literally dumbing yourself down for a while. Instead of forcing yourself to think up by reading books. I read a lot of books. I read a lot of science fiction books. I read a lot of business books to always learn more. And read a lot of relationship books to help my relationship too. 

The next thing to understand about poor versus rich is that poor people trade time for money. Whereas rich people trade results for money. Now, Elon Musk for instance will get paid 2.3 billion dollars over the next couple of years not because he was paid a high hourly wage. Not because who's paid him high monthly salary. It is because his stock goes up. Because he sold more Tesla's than his stockholders thought he would. I don't make my money because I charge people a high hourly wage to hire me to do marketing for them. I make my money because I get results for companies. I make more sales for them, I send them more customers and they pay me more commissions for my marketing efforts. A normal company wouldn't pay somebody $1,000 an hour but that's what I make on average a day, a normal company. But they will pay me to bring them results. If I create for them sixteen thousand dollars a day worth of business, they will happily pay me half of that because I created that and I can also turn it off for them at any point if I wish to. Have you ever heard the old of Dodge a penny saved, is a penny earned. It's still a freaking penny. And you're not going to make money if you're focused on saving every single penny or nickel or dime that you make. That's a good way to stay poor. A good way to become rich is to earn. To focus on earning rather than saving. And frankly, when you don't have to worry about saving every dime, life is a lot more fun and you get a lot more freedom to do the things that you like. Now, I shoot this money gun up because... Well, first off, it's fun. But it also is to show you that a lot of people will hate on this. A lot of people think that this is crude. And you shouldn't treat money like fat, frankly. But the difference between poor versus rich mentality is that poor people think money is evil. That it's not good to have too much money. That you shouldn't put it in people's faces or you shouldn't do fancy things. You shouldn't buy a Lamborghini. Don't tell people about that yacht. Don't go on expensive trips in other people's faces. Money is not evil. 

Rich people think money is actually the source of good. And when you have money, you're able to actually do better things. Whether that's... You know, for me it's being able to hire a nanny. You know, being able to hire doulas for my wife. Being able to have a nice house for my family. Being able to buy a horse for my daughter. Being able to build a horse trail in our backyard. You know for me and my daughter to ride horses on, etc. I believe money's great because it solves a lot of problems. And I believe it can solve a lot of problems for other people as well. I help a lot of people that are in my inner circle and a lot of people benefit. And I've made my students highly successful by being able to create innovate better and better training programs for them. 

The next thing to understand is that poor people blame others. When something goes wrong, when the finances are bad, when the you know, there's not you know, there's not enough work, right? Or "My boss is an asshole." Or you know... "Business is bad. The economy's bad. Trump's killing our economy." Whatever it is, it's always outside of yourself. It's never your fault. Nothing's ever your fault. Your relationship, it's not your fault that you have a bad relationship. It's her fault or it's his fault, right? Can't be your fault? You were late. You weren't late because it was your fault. You were late because there was traffic, right? And that traffic made you late. How many people here have used the traffic excuse? And if you have used the traffic excuse, just say "guilty" okay? In the comments, just go down there and write guilty. If you've ever blamed the reason you were late on traffic. It wasn't traffic. You didn't plan correctly. So, if you understand what I'm saying, type in guilty in the comments below. And frankly, if you are guilty of any of these things, type in "guilty". 

Now, the last key difference between the poor and the rich mentality. It's the lottery versus the action mentality. Now, what this mentality is. is that something good is going to happen to you. Eventually you will find that thing. Eventually you will come across that secret way to make money trading stocks or you'll figure out that secret real estate method. Or you'll come across the right internet guru and he will have the magical system which will make everything all right and he'll show you exactly how to step by step make money online. Now, the fact of the matter is if you have a lottery mentality, no matter which teacher you decide to follow, whether it's in YouTube or life or no matter what boss you decide to work for, you are going to severely limit yourself as chances at becoming rich. Whereas if you take the action mentality to life, you can become wealthy. 

Now, I want you to imagine for a second that you are completely in control of your life. That anything you wish for can happen. Then anything you imagine that you want where you want to be you can have. But in order to have everything you want, you need to take full responsibility for everything that goes on in your life. Is your relationship where you want it to be? It's your fault. Or your finances where you want them to be? It's your fault. And is your health exactly where you want it to be? It's your fault. Now, you are completely in control of your life. And you can have whatever it is you want. But to do so, you're going to have to take control and realize that all of these things --your relationship, your finances, your health are your fault. And that's not an easy pill to swallow. It isn't. Really isn't. But it is. And once you realize that, then you're in control. Because now, you are the responsible one. And for those of you willing to play along with me and take responsibility, I encourage you let's look at this list again. Do you react to others? Others being your phone, your notifications, your messages, your texts, your whatsapp, your Facebook notifications. 

You ever spend more time giving advice than asking questions? Do you ever watch more than you read? Do you ever... Do you trade your time for money rather than trading your results for money? Don't Start A Business Until You Read This!!!

So, you see the lifestyle of successful entrepreneurs? You see the exotic cars we drive; our fancy houses or mansions; the world travels; the jet skiing. You know, all the cool stuff. A lot of the cash. You know, that we do. But in reality, not everybody is meant to be an entrepreneur. Basically, don't start a business until you read this Article and I'm going to go over the five most common things you need to understand which may mean you're not ready to start a business. "I'm going to start a business and make a lot of money!" Probably not, okay? Most people don't make any money starting a business.

It's a risk. And as I said before, you see all of the money we're making. I make about a million dollars a month in my business. You see all of our nice houses. I own one and a half acres in Malibu, you know? I'm putting another vacation house soon. So, and you see all of the lifestyle. All the world travels that entrepreneurs do and it might be appealing. And you might think to yourself, "I want to start a business too." That's what I want in my life. But in reality, being a business owner, being an entrepreneur, working for yourself is not for everyone, okay? And here are the 5 reasons why you probably shouldn't start a business or it may mean you're not ready yet. And just to give you a higher level overview of this is most people have a poor mindset. And you're never going to make money or get rich with a poor mindset. Most people have been taught by the media, by social media, by their parents, by education system to have a poor mindset. So keep in mind these reasons why not just start a business. They may be things you need to change mentally. 

So, the first thing is not something you change mentally. But it's a symptom of it is if you have no money, okay? If you have no money then you need to get a job, you need to do work. You need to do whatever you can and saving up that money. Learn skills. And you can start a business on the side but starting a business is risky. It is not guaranteed money. Being an entrepreneur is not a pyramid scheme. And you need money to either be able to afford food or to before at a place to live or to invest in business tools or training's or education or seminars or whatever you're going to do to advance in whatever business you start. So, if you don't have any money, learn skills it's very easy to make $100,000 a year in today's day and age. You can go online and you can learn programming for free or you can go out and just sell some stuff. Very easy. Not hard to do and it's free. 

Next thing. The second reason you shouldn't start a business is if you don't understand the industry. Now, in my training course, I teach affiliate marketing and there's a lot of words that are involved in affiliate marketing that's why I have a training course because you can't just expect... You know, if you don't understand what an affiliate network and an affiliate program is and what EPC means and what an offer is and what a pub or an affiliate or an affiliate manager is or all these different terms what an ad campaign is, all these things, then you're probably going to miss out on a lot of the conversations people are having about affiliate marketing. You're not going to understand the industry enough to know what to fix. And that's why you know I have a training course in it because it does take knowledge and there is individual language for every industry. So, you need to understand the language of the industry. You need to know what people are talking about. If you're doing drop shipping, you need to know what does drop shipping even mean. What is the difference between drop shipping and just fulfilling the product yourself? So, you need to understand those terminologies to help you move forward, learn in advance. 

Now, the third reason not to start a business is a really big one and it's a stamina/ mindset one and what it is if you have no stamina. Okay? And this is possibly one of the most common mistakes I see is people start businesses but aren't even willing to do the business and fail for 3 months. Most people, they just want to snap their fingers and instantly have hundred-dollar bills in their hands. Now, the reality is that businesses generally take time to get started and understand everything really start making that money. And you can't just snap your fingers and expect to have something. And if you're a first-time business owner, you need to have stamina. You need to be able to work in the same business failing over and over again poor you for 3 months. And if you're not willing to do that then you're not willing to start a business. And if you just put this in comparison, failing at starting a business for 3 months is easy work compared to you know, my grandparents fought Nazis in World War II. You know, they did like get shot at every day. This is easy. We're sitting in air conditioning rooms tapping on computers eating Cheetos. Don't worry if your business doesn't make money for 3 months. You got to have stamina if you want to be able to start a business. 

Now, a fourth reason not to start a business is if you want more free time. You're not going to get free time running your own business. In fact, you know, having a business is like having a child. It's something you've got nurture. It's something we have emotionally difficult times with and emotionally great times with and it's something that takes time even when you don't feel like giving time if your baby's crying. Just because you're hangover, just because you're you know you don't want to feel like it or just because you're feeling lazy and you know you want to go hang out with your friends. You still have to take care of your baby. You can't just leave it and a business is like a baby because when you first have your baby, it takes the most amounts of time and effort. You've got to be willing to put in that time and effort. But the great thing about children is once they've grown up and once they're older, they just do things on their own and they work for themselves and they do their own thing and you get to enjoy that pleasure of being a father or a mother without having to pay for everything for them and without having to do all of that little work. You just get to enjoy your time with them. 

And the fifth reason not to start a business is if you know how to market or if you don't want to market. All transactions happen from either sales or marketing and sales is you know actually talking to people, person to person you know in meetings. Whereas marketing as leveraged form as a communication like YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, Google, right? So, that's what you want to use. In today's day and age, people spend more time in increasingly large amounts of time on you know, Facebook, Google, Twitter, Instagram you know LinkedIn, etc. So, you need to understand how to leverage those platforms to get people interested and purchasing whatever product it is that you are trying to get people to buy. So, whether you're doing e-commerce or affiliate marketing or software or apps or whatever it is, you know or even just you know client work you know, be tabbies type agency stuff. 

You still need to know how to market and reach people through these social mediums. So, if you don't know how to market, better start learning. And in this Article, I'm going to be going over the 3 habits of rich people that allow them to continue making more money. It's not an act. Getting rich is not just an act. It's not like you pick up a lottery ticket and suddenly you're rich. It's not luck. It's a habit, it's a process that can be learned. And I'm going to be going over these 3 elements that are going to help you get embody the habits of rich people.

And the thing you need to know is that rich people and poor people have very different habits. And you know, we do the same things every day. We just kind of go by the same cycle all the time. And in order to change you know your bank account from being less than a desirable to the point where you get excited to look at every time, your bank has more money in it. You've got to change up your essential habits. And these 3 things are the essential habits of rich people that I'm going to try to distill for you. I don't know everything. You know, I'm not saying this is the ultimate. You know, I'm not a billionaire but these are 3 things that I found that are very different from people with poor mindsets and rich mindsets. 
Now, the first thing is that rich people count their money, okay? Count their money. Now, you would think that somebody like me you know, I'm making hundreds of thousands of dollars a month in my business would not feel the need to actually count all of my costs and look at what each line item on my credit card I was spending money on. And use mint and kind of categorize my expenses and where I'm over, where I'm under. But the reality is, is that I spend and many of the people I know who are very wealthy are crazy about counting where their money's going. Where it's coming from.  Knowing exactly all of these different elements about their money. Poor people, they get a bill and they say, "Ugh!" You know, they get a tax bill at the end of the year that might be one of the only times they actually count their money. And poor people get a tax bill and they say, "Ugh! Screw it. Got to pay it." And they send their money to the government, right? But rich people, what we do is we look at the tax but when we say, "Hmm. Cool. Opportunity for negotiation. I wonder how much I can get this down." And I'm in the highest tax bracket, income wise and I probably paid closer to the lowest tax bracket because I negotiated. I found the deductions. I hired somebody who was knowledgeable in this space for a fraction of the money that it costs to save me the hundreds of thousands of dollars I did. So, we count our money. We figure out where it's coming from. What we can do to maximize things. What we can do to save things. We don't just go out and say, "Oh! Cool. I have a thousand dollars left in my bank account at the end of the month.
" Now, the second thing about rich people is that rich people pay themselves first. Pay yourself first. Okay. Now, paying yourself first does not mean buying yourself that car, getting yourself a vacation to reward yourself or it doesn't mean any of that stuff. What paying yourself first means is actually paying yourself a salary. Putting that money into 401k. Saving that up. Putting that in you know, expense everything you can through your business or through your company or whatever you do. You know, even as an employee, you can set up an LLC and expense everything through there but you pay yourself first, okay? I'm saving up money every single month even though I have very high earning power and I very high confidence in my business doing well. I always make sure that at the end of the day I am always making money before anybody else. It always happens. I'm saving up money for myself in my personal bank account, my 401k, etc. Pay yourself first and you'll do better. 
Now, the third part of this is know how to improve your income. Now, I just got to take off my jacket for this because this part makes me angry. And people don't understand this. Knowing how to improve your income, you need to go to what I call the money equation, okay? What is your money equation? Do you even know what your money equation is? Everybody has a money equation attached to the back of their head. And you are only going to ever be as good as your money equation. Now, let's look at this, right? So, let's say you're working a job. You're getting paid $20 an hour, right? Your money equation is hours times $20, right? Very simple. The most your money equation can ever be is 168 which is the number of hours in a week times $20. Therefore the most money you can possibly ever make is around $12,000 a month, right? So now, you have a number. You know the most you can possibly ever hope to earn is 20 times the number of hours a week. But that's not feasible to actually do. You know, so you have to account for sleep and some of these other things. But either way, you have a very clear maximum to the amount of money. You can make this doesn't give a lot of opportunity for improvement. And even if you go for raises or promotions, probably the most you will get a raise for is up to 20% of your income. 
So, that 12,000 you could times it by 1.2 and the most your money equation will ever get up to is about you know, 14-15 thousand dollars. So, that is a very real number. Your range is determined by the number of hours. Now, similarly, if you're working a salary job, your money equation is salary times the year. It's very simple. And that's the most you can ever make. Now, if you want to save up for retirement, if you want to save up money, if you're working in a big city, 12,000 a month isn't necessarily going to give you a lot of money to save you. In fact, $12,000 a month is actually just above the poverty line in San Francisco. So, you need to change your money equation. Another example of a money equation is if you are running an agency. Or if you're you know working on clients like a social media marketing agency like I used to do. I could only handle about 5 to 10 clients per month. 10 clients per month max was the amount of clients that I could handle. You know, just each client took more time. So my money equation was basically, I was charging $500 and it was times 10, okay? Now, my money equation was very limited, okay? And I had to change. You know, but my equation was basically clients times 10. Because I knew that was the most number of clients that I could personally deal with Phone calls and campaign builds and landing page builds per month. But I had a very easy way to change this. And I remember I went to an event in 2012, right? I was never able to replace the income I made from my job. I was making 6,000 a month and I could only manage 10 clients a month part-time. 
Now, I went to this seminar. And this really tall man with big teeth and big hands, he forced me to question myself and ask me. And by the way, if you know who this really tall man with big teeth and big hands is type it in the comments. I'll give a big virtual hug to everybody who knows who I'm talking about. But this person asked me to question what am I doing. And if I continue going the same route, will I ever get to my goal? And I realized my equation is wrong. And I've got to change my equation. Now, my equation was I charged each client $500 per month. But when I realized that this I could change that. And I realized that I could change my own wealth equation and I could start charging clients $10,000 a month, right? This is what I did. And I realized I could do and I could make as much as $100,000 a month which is what I wanted to get to. I changed my wealth equation around. And I was able to get there. 
Within a few months, I got 3 clients that were paying me $10,000 a month. Now, I had to talk to different people. I had to change up a little bit of what I was offering. Really, actually I just had to find new places, new prospects to talk to. And I was able to get to my goal a few years later of $100,000 a month in my business. 2 or 3 years later, I got there. And that was life-changing. But you have to understand know how to improve your income. Know your wealth equation and you will be able to figure out what you need to improve it. Now, I teach affiliate marketing and affiliate marketing is based on results. If you can sell one of these products, you'll get $50. If you sell 10 of these products, you'll get $500. So your wealth equation is based on results that you get for company. The results equation, the money equation built in allows for exponential growth. 
Allows for unrealistic incomes by modern day standards. And if you just start mining in the right place, if you just start doing a business where your money equation allows you to reach whatever income goal you want, you can get there. But the point is you need to change your money equation around first. 

Let's start realizing that poor and rich, they're mindsets put in to us by the media, by society, by the education system and by our family and we can change that around if we want to. So, dedicate yourself to getting there.

They pay you a couple different ways. You can get gift cards for all of your favorite stores. You can get gift cards for steam. Steam fans here. Any gamers? Any gamers? Let me know what video game are you playing? You know, I I'm looking for new RPGs to play on as a side note. So, let me know. Which is getting old? And that you can get paid via PayPal right there. So, you can get that money via PayPal for taking surveys and it's good on the Apple Store and the Google Play Store. Go download it. They've paid out over 5 million dollars. Almost 6 million dollars. And they've been around for a while so this is a great app to use and there's a lot of stuff. Look at this. Complete surveys, earn points, answer questions and get paid, okay? Do you own a dog? What car do you drive? Etc. So, very easy. 

This next one is insane. I mean the ways you can make money now are just so exciting. Now, what if this one is... It's called apptrailers.com. And what you can get with this is you can get paid via PayPal for watching movie trailers. Yeah? "I don't get it"? You can watch movie trailers. Watch trailers of hot apps and get points. And what's even better. So, you see right here app trailers. Can see apptrailers.com right there and it's on both the Apple Store and the Google Play Store. So, no matter what kind of phone you have, it'll work. If you have a Microsoft phone, shame on you, okay? But that's basically how it works. Watch trailers of hot apps, collect reward points and turn those reward points in for gift cards or for PayPal. So again, you can get that money via gift cards or PayPal money, okay? If you'd rather have it as an Amazon gift card, do whatever. Either way, it's your money.

 This next one is interesting. Manifest. Now what this is is it's kind of like affiliate marketing for charities. So, basically by spreading awareness about charities and helping charities raise money, you actually can get paid. Check this out. So it says withdraw instantly or donate to the cause and you could say, "Withdraw to PayPal or donate to a charity of your choice." I know what I'm doing. As you see here, it's not as big of a site. You know they haven't paid out as much as like feature points for instance. Let's see right here. Our users earned $196,000. So, you're not going become a millionaire doing this. In fact, there's thousands of people using it. Probably aren't going to make that much money doing this. And the other difficulty about this is that if your friends are broke and they don't have money that you donate, it might not work out. But maybe you have a lot of friends who are into charities or whatever and donating and they're kind of like those social liberal people. And they want to just donate. And that's great. Then you can make money sharing causes with them. But it once again, keep in mind that the same as this and as well as a lot of these things are you're not going to necessarily become a millionaire. These are very simple tasks.. Give big like for just ways that you know, getting paypal money if you're going to do this. 

So, the next tactic is called field agent. Now, this one's kind of neat because field agents sounds kind of like secret agent, right? And you kind of are a secret agent in a sense. Now, if you check out my computer right here, you see these kind of sneaky super agent glasses and that's what you are? You are a mystery shopper or what's called a secret shopper. And what you do... Your job is to go in and take pictures of stores. Yeah. So, you actually have to go into stores. This looks like a Trader Joe's, right? Or this you know a Walmart and you have to take pictures of other companies packaging or brands or you know, their displays because what it is is behind field agent at the very top are very big companies. They work with very big brands like Target or you know Walmart, etc. And they want to get competitive intelligence on what their competitors stores are doing and you are the secret agent to take pictures of it and you get paid for checking out and taking those pictures of the store. See here's somebody they get a picture inside a store of a sunblock right there. So, the way you start this is you have to download the app and you can start using and they will pay you via either iPhone or Android device and you could get paid via PayPal. Really fun stuff. I don't know if this is available in all countries. But the chance to be a secret agent, I mean, that that sounds pretty cool and get paid. Okay, so I'm going to go through these last for you ones pretty quick. But it's pretty fast explain. 

They're so simple but ebotta is great because if you're already shopping online then you can actually get cash back on your purchases, okay? So, this is kind of an obvious one. Instead of the credit card companies making money, you're just getting more cash back on your purchases on things you're already spending money on. Play and win. This is literally a way you can make money playing games online. And get via PayPal. So very easy. Again, you're not going to become a millionaire doing it but you'll make money and then buzz break. Buzz break is you can get paid PayPal money for reading the news. I'm on the site right here. It's spelled ibotta, right? I-B-O-T-T-A. And the way it works is just simple. You get them cash back on everyday purchases. And really all this app is it's it's kind of like affiliate arbitrage. It's kind of like buying products through your own affiliate link. If you were to do that. I mean you could buy products for your own affiliate link on Amazon and get 5% of that money back. So, this is just a way for you to do that. They keep some of the money themselves and they give you some of the money back for you. So, easy way. You know, usually works only for like... If you're buying you know look they're like diapers or stuff that's commonly available online. 

The next app is called play and win app. And as you see, it's available on Google Play and Apple Store and you just download this game and you can make money. And you can see here all the winners right here. You see this guy earn $10, nine hours ago. this guy earned $10 nineteen hours ago. what did he say? "It is so great to be a winner. Thank you." Wait, this is pretty funny. Okay, so people are winning. People are winning $10. So you can make ten dollars winning this. Looks like a lot of people are doing this. I'm just going one more this. I don't understand what any of these people are saying but they're winning. So.. And they look happy. So that's great. Okay, they're getting money be a paypal.

Amazon's a massive company. And there's tons of ways to earn money working from home with Amazon and have them pay you money. And I'm going to be going over 5 of the best ways that you can make money working from home with Amazon.

I'll be going over all of these on my computer and showing you where you can find and sign up and start doing this to make money from home and have an Amazon pay it. Let's get into it. Boom! Amazon is like... I think it's like a trillion dollar company now and there's a lot of ways you can work with Amazon. Most of the products they're selling on their site are not their own. And I'll show you how you can make money working with Amazon. Now, the first is pretty interesting. It's surveys. I'll be going on my computer and showing you all of these. 
The second is selling products. All of the products on Amazon, Almost all of them like 90 some percent are from other third-party sellers and I'll show you how you can sign up to do that. You can also make money doing handmade crafts and posting them on Amazon. Really cool new opportunity to make money with Amazon. 

The fourth method is writing. Writing books for the Kindle and publishing them through Amazon. You don't need to have a big literary agent to do this and also marketing Amazon's products. Amazon's affiliate program called Amazon Associates is one of the biggest affiliate programs in the world. If not, the biggest. And it's actually one that I use. And I'll explain how you can use this in a little bit when we get to number 5. Let's get into it. Cool! So, here we are on Amazon. And to find these ways of making money, you can go down. If you actually scroll down to the footer here,

We scroll all the way down on Amazon. You'll see there's an entire section that says "Make Money with Us", okay? Make Money with us right here. And these are all ways that you can make money with Amazon. And these are the things that we'll be discussing of how you can make money with Amazon. Now, the first method of making money with Amazon is called Amazon Mechanical Turk. And this is... 

This is actually pretty interesting. It's actually totally separate from their marketplace. But it's a way you can do surveys and other very basic tasks to earn money from Amazon. So, Amazon has tens of thousands of people signed up to be their internet workforce. Now, this is really the best method if you are from a very foreign country and you have no skills or you just want to make a little extra money on the side. You won't make much but you can sign up as worker right here. See? Looking to work on tasks. Right up there and you have flexibility and you can work for you know do surveys and what not for lots of companies. So, let's click sign in as a worker. So, here I am on Amazon Mechanical Turk. And as you see, it's really small up here and you get a worker ID and you do very basic tasks. As you see, here all the different tasks you can do. And they don't pay much. Here's a task that pays a penny or 9 cents or 4 cents, 5 cents, 8 cents, 25 cents. And you honestly can't make much but it's easy. And you don't need any skills whatsoever to do this. 

Now, here's an example. Image title description. So let's click on... Let's find... Let's do this one. Just the very basic one. Oh, here's one that pays 10 cents, okay? So, 10 cents and it says, "Draw a 3d shapes." So, let's say accept and work. So, here you get a bunch of instructions it says you must pass this quiz in order to proceed to real annotations. There's instructions here and it's they're called hits. So they're called human intelligence tasks. These are tasks that require human intelligence. So now, it gives you the instruction for each tasks. It says you will earn $1 upon passing the tutorial. And upon completing one real annotation task, you can retake the quiz and fail up to 3 times. And for each annotation task, you will earn 10 cents to 70 cents per task. So you can make a little extra money on the side. And as you see here, what it tells you to do is to make 3d shapes around objects. So, basically, you just trace the objects and you're creating 3d shapes around them. Like so. So again, it doesn't require much... You know, it doesn't require much intelligence but there is... You know, they have tutorials and they show you how you can do these things and they have a few videos for you too to show you exactly how to do the task. 

Now, I'm not actually going to do the task here. If you're interested in doing these tasks, you can sign on to Mechanical Turk and start doing them. It's free, it's easy and there's thousands and thousands and thousands. There's tons of tasks which you can do. And you can do many of these tasks over and over and over again. When they say, "They'll pay 3 cents for each task, usually you can do that tasks hundreds of times and earn that money." But again, you're not going to get paid a lot. So, it's it's not a great way to make money but it is still a way to make money with Amazon. 

Now, the second way to earn money with Amazon is a huge way. And that's selling on Amazon. What's called Amazon or Amazon FBA. Now, if we look on Amazon, the number one way to make money with Amazon is selling on Amazon right here, okay? So, great way to sell on Amazon. And if we look here, you know, a lot of businesses make a lot of money selling on Amazon. Now, to start selling on Amazon, you need to pay a little bit of money. You have to pay $39 a month, okay? $39 a month if you see that right here. $39 a month is the bare minimum that just goes to Amazon. I think that's to verify you're a real person. And you can reach... I mean the benefits are obvious. You reach hundreds of millions of users. They will... You even fulfill. Its called fulfillment by Amazon what's called F-B-A. So you can simply ship all of the products to one of Amazon's warehouses and they will send out... They will do the shipping the labeling, everything for you very easily. Okay? And that's I believe an additional cost of something like $99 per month. And yeah, you'll just get your product seen by hundreds of millions of people on Amazon. So, this is a great way to start selling. 

He'll go over kind of how to select products to sell how to find competitive niches that aren't saturated. How to price your products and all the different settings you can do to start really making big money selling on Amazon. But it's... It's a complex business model. But to make the big money, but there are ways to do it and you can learn a lot of them online and on YouTube for free. 

The third way to sell on Amazon is handcrafted goods. Now, that's pretty interesting. You can sell just personalized customized handcrafted products on Amazon. Now, what this is called is this is called Amazon handmade. And again, it's for artisans. If you can create you know sweaters or wool caps or whatever it is you want, you can sell those goods online. Now, what you do to start selling Amazon handmade goods is you simply go down to the footer. Again, where it says Make Money with Us. And you click on sell on Amazon handmade right there. Okay? So, right over there is where you click and you'll be taken to this page which is Amazon services handmade. You can reach once again, millions of customers with Amazon handmade. 

You can click to apply to sell right there to get started, creating an account and filling out the information of you know... And uploading pictures of the products that you would want to be selling. Choose your category and all that good stuff. So, now the way it works is you are basically charged 15% fee of whatever you sell online. Let's say you sell a sweater for $100, Amazon will take 15% of that. That's how my Amazon makes money. So, you will receive $85. Now, additionally, if you want Amazon to actually ship and you know label and do all the packaging and the processing for whatever goods that you're selling, you can also work with Amazon FBA which is fulfillment by Amazon. And literally let them just handle all parts of the business so you can just make sweaters, send them to Amazon and have Amazon do all of the dirty work behind the scenes of shipping and writing labels. So really, you get focused on doing what you do best as an artisan creating handmade goods. This is a really easy way. Amazon makes more money. You know they make a higher percentage when they do the fulfillment. Again, there's a reason that Jeff Bezos is like worth 100 million... 100 billion, sorry. 100 billion dollars even after his divorce but that's because Amazon you know, it works. And it helps you reach customers so they can charge for it. 

Now, the fourth way to make money with Amazon is writing books and publishing them digitally on the Amazon Kindle platform. Simply being a writer. And what's really great is there ways to be a writer on Amazon without actually even having to have a big following as an author yet. I don't know all the tips and tricks to create you know ebooks and getting them to rank higher. There are videos from friends of mine like Stefan James and what have you that show you how you can create you know, the real dirty tricks to create a Kindle business. But one of the big things is you want to do them around keywords that people search for. You know, whether that's you know how to build a desert garden or how to be a truck driver or how to make money online or how to invest your money, etc. You know, things that people are searching for is the key to really getting those self-published books on Kindle. And you'll see right here, you don't even need to pay for a print a printer to print out books free. You can literally just self publish with Amazon and it's all digital and you just sit back and you write books and you make money with Amazon. And that's Amazon... What does it called? Something like that --Amazon Kindle or Amazon printing. So, you can publish to Kindle and you can earn royalties up to 70%. So now, if you're selling books for $10, you would make $7 of that and Amazon would make 3. But you can also do with Amazon is you can do what's called publish to print or publish to audio. So, you can actually have Amazon you know, if you write a book, you can have Amazon print the book for you on-demand. So they'll do all the you know, they'll put the cover on, they'll print it on two pages like this. And they'll actually ship the book for you. They'll do everything. So, it's very easy to be a writer and self-published nowadays. And you can even create audio versions of your book which is really exciting and a great way to get started as a writer. It's never been easier to start as a writer. 

Now, the fifth way to make money with Amazon working from home is actually marketing Amazon's products. Now, Amazon will pay you up to 10% referral fee if you get people using or buying products from their site. Just simply by marketing a link. Now, you'll find the Amazon affiliate program at the bottom. And it says, Become an Affiliate". Once again, it's under the heading Make Money with Us. You just go down and right there become an affiliate. You click on that and you can get access to Amazon... What's called Amazon Associates. Now, what you'll see on Amazon Associates is you know, some information. You can join for free. 

Now, I'm not aware... I'm not sure if Amazon Associates is available to all countries around the world. But it is available and I just haven't tested in all countries, right? But you would join for free. They don't charge them anything to advertise their products and you can earn up to 10% advertising fees with the most trusted platform online. 10% is a great deal of money. And I'm going to show you some examples of how people earn money with this. And it's very simple. You join, you get a link and you advertise that link and earn money. Now, how Amazon Associates works is you know, you would search for something in Amazon and I'm just going to find a book that I'm actually currently reading called by my favorite author Neal Stephenson Fall Or Dodge In Hell. A novel. I'll click on that and we will see. Here's the book. It's about a thousand pages long. Like, you know, if any of you read this book, I mean my hats off to you. You are awesome. But I'm not actually going to buy it. You'll see it retails for $19. I'm going to go up here. And when you are an associate of Amazon affiliate you get this thing called site strike. See that right here Amazon site Strike. And you click this button which says, Get Link, okay? And you will get your affiliate link right here. I'm going to highlight it, copy. And now it's my job to market it. And if people buy from my link, if they click on my link and buy the book, then I will earn up to 10% commissions so up to $2. Because it's a $20. You see it's a $20 book. Now, how I would market it, I'd market it through the same channels everybody else would. You know, Facebook, Instagram, Google. You might put up a blog post on Google. Put up a a post on Facebook. I could put up a you know... Put the link in my description on the Instagram profile. Or I could put it underneath a YouTube video. Let's say we're to do a review or something like that of this book. I put the link and I'd say, "Hey, if you're interested in buying this book, you know, click the link in the description." So, there's a lot of ways to market this link. That's what your job as a marketer if you're going to do this business model. 

Now, let me show you an example real quick of a large affiliate of Amazon. So, anybody here followed Peter McKinnon? Let me know if you do. He's a... He's a big YouTuber. As you see, he focuses on the photography niche. He focuses on photography and videography. And as you see, he's got beautiful visuals in all of his... In all of his videos. And he also helps teach people how to do interesting editing, tricks and whatnot. You really... You know, really for people who are interested in photography and videography as a you know, as a business or a hobby. Now, he has 3 million subscribers. But what's of interest to us is how he makes money. And we're going to click on this video right here. And we're going to look in the description. We're going to click show more in the description of this video which has over one and a half million views. Now, as you see, he shows all of the equipment that he uses to make this beautiful. Beautiful videos. And let's check this out. My main camera. Now, if you look at this, he's talking about his main camera. And look at this price. $5,500. Now, 10% of that, okay? 10% of that is $549, okay? That's a lot of commissions. And most of his audience are people aspiring to do sort of you know, YouTube videos or videography or photography. So, the fact is he reaches a an audience of people who are looking how to do this themselves. And some of those people will eventually buy the camera equipment that he recommends because they want to do it the exact same stuff he does. All 3 million of his subscribers. So, he'll make a commission, a big fat one on every camera that is sold as an affiliate. 

Let's check out what else he recommends. The vlog cam, the backup camera, my favorite lens ever. The lens I'm using right now to do everything. The magic Canon lens of life. All of this equipment that he uses for photography. Because he's a professional, cost a lot of money. $1,000. $2,7000. $1,500. $1,800. $1400. So, for people that really are looking to get started in this industry, these are products that are selling often anyways. He's just showing people his gear and some of them are buying off of it. I bought off of his links because I stopped wanted to start a YouTube channel. So, I bought products. He probably made over $1,000 Commission just from me clicking on his links. Pretty cool, right? And all he has to focus on is doing cool videos, okay? Of just what he likes to do. Let me show you another example of how an affiliate is promoting Amazon links. So, here I am in Google and I just typed in best baby diapers 2019. You see that right there? I'm going to zoom in on this so you can see. And let's go down to the first listing, okay? You know, just the factors they reviewed amount cause softness absorbency fragrance, etc. And down here below, you can see their all-time faith. Pampers, Swaddlers, diapers. Now, once again, they have their Amazon affiliate link and here's the price for it. Now, if you click on that link or any of the other links on this page for Amazon, they will end up making anywhere from 5 to 10 percent commission on this product which is a cool $5.40, okay? Simply by putting up a blog post helping other mothers figure out what diapers to use. And notice every other diaper, they have, you know, they probably aren't affiliate there. So, that's another way to make money with Amazon.

This Is Why You Don't Succeed - Simon Sinek on The Millennial Generation

I have yet to give a speech or have a meeting where somebody doesn't ask me the Millennial question. What's the millennial question? 
Apparently Millennial’s as a generation which is a group of people who were born approximately in 1984 and after are tough to manage and they're accused of being entitled and narcissistic self-interested, unfocused, lazy but entitled is the big one and because they confound leadership. So much what's happening as leaders are asking the Millennial’s what do you want? and Millennials are saying we want to work in a place with purpose, love that we want make an impact. You know whatever that means we want free food and bean bags and so somebody articulates some sort of purpose. There's lots of free food and there's bean bags and yet for some reason they are still not happy and that's because they're missing this. There's a missing piece what I've learned is that. There I can break it down into four pieces right there are four.
Four things, four characteristics one is parenting, the other one is technology, third is impatience and the fourth is environment. The generation that we call the Millennials too many of them grew up subject to not my words failed parenting strategies where for example they were told that they were special all the time. They were told that, they have anything they want in life just because they want it some of them got into honors classes not because they deserved it but because their parents complained and some of them got “A” is not because they earned them but because the teachers didn't want to do with the parents.
Some kids got participation medals, you got a medal for coming in last right which the science we know is pretty clear which is it devalues the medal and the reward for those who actually work hard and that actually makes the person who comes in last to feel embarrassed because they know they didn't deserve it. So that makes them feel worse right, so you take this group of people and they graduate school and they get a job and they're thrust into an it into the real world and in an instant they find out they're not special their moms can't get them a promotion. That you get nothing for coming in last and by the way you can't just have it cuz you want it and in an instant their entire self-image is shattered and so you have an entire generation that's growing up with lower self-esteem than previous generations.
The other problem to compound, it is we're growing up in a Facebook, Instagram world in other words. We're good at putting filters on things. We're good at showing people that life is amazing even though I'm depressed and so everybody sounds tough and everybody sounds like they got it all figure it out and the reality is there's very little toughness and most people don't have it figure it out and so when the more senior people say well what we do, they sound like this is what you got it in and they have no clue, so you have an entire generation growing up with lower self-esteem than previous generations right through no fault of their own through no fault of their own right they were dealt a bad hand now let's add in technology.
We know that engagement with social media and our cell phones releases a chemical called dopamine. That's why when you get a text it feels good, all right so you know we've all had it where you're feeling a little bit down or feeling a bit lonely and so you send out ten texts to ten friends you know, Hi! Hi! Hi! Hi! Hi! cuz it feels good. when you get a response it's why we count the likes, it's why we go back ten times to see if and if it's going, if our mints and my Instagram is growing slower and what I did I do something wrong, do they don't like me anymore, right the trauma for young kids to be unfriended right because we know when you get it you get a hit a dopamine which feels good. It's why we like it. It's why we keep going back to it. Dopamine is the exact same chemical that makes us feel good, when we smoke when we drink and when we gamble in other words. It's highly! highly addictive right. We have age restrictions on smoking gambling and alcohol and we have no age restrictions on social media and cell phones which is the equivalent of opening up the liquor cabinet and saying to our teenagers.
Hey by the way this adolescence thing if it gets you down but that's basically what's happening, that's basically what's happening right that's basically what happened. You have an entire generation that has access to an addictive numbing to chemical called dopamine, through social media and cellphones as they're going through the high stress of adolescence. Why is this important almost every alcoholic discovered alcohol when they were teenagers. When we're very young the only approval we need is the approval of our parents and as we go through adolescence we make this transition where we now need the approval of our peers very frustrating for our parents very important for us that allows us to acculturate outside of our immediate families into the broader tribe right it's a highly, highly stressful and anxious period of our lives and we're supposed to learn to rely on our friends.
Some people quite by accident discover alcohol and numbing effects of dopamine them cope with the stresses and anxieties of adolescence unfortunately that becomes hardwired in their brains and for the rest of their lives. When they suffer significant stress they will not turn into a person they will turn to the bottle.
Social stress, financial stress and career stress that's pretty much the primary reasons, why an alcoholic drinks. what's happening is because we're out allowing unfettered access to these dopamine producing devices and media. Basically it's becoming hardwired and what we're seeing is as they grow older too many kids don't know how to form deep meaningful relationships. Their words not mine they will admit that many of their friendships are superficial. They will admit that their friends that they don't count on their friends they don't rely on their friends they have fun with their friends but they also know that their friends will cancel out them that something better comes along. Deep meaningful relationships are not there because they never practice the skill set and worse they don't have the coping mechanisms to deal with stress so when significant stress starts to show up in their lives. They're not turning to a person, they're turning to a device, they're turning to social media, they're turning to these things which offer temporary relief.
We know the science is clear. We know that people who spend more time on Facebook so far higher rates of depression than people spend less time on Facebook. These things balanced alcohol is not bad too much alcohol is bad gambling is fun too much gambling is dangerous. There's nothing wrong with social media and cell phones, it's the imbalance if you're sitting at dinner with your friends and you're texting somebody who's not there that's a problem that's an addiction. if you're sitting in a meeting with people you're supposed to be listening to and speaking and you put your phone on the table face up or face down I don't care that sends a subconscious message to the room and you're not just, you're just not that important to me right now, right! that's what happens and the fact that you cannot put it away is because you are addicted, right! if you wake up and you check your phone before you say good morning to your girlfriend, boyfriend or spouse you have an addiction and like all addiction in time it will destroy relationships it'll cost time and it'll cost money and it'll make your life worse so you have a generation growing up with lower self-esteem that doesn't have the coping mechanisms to do with stress and stress now you add in the sense of impatience. 
They've grown up in a world of instant gratification you want to buy something you go on Amazon. It arrives the next day, you want to watch a movie log on and watch a movie, you don't check the movie times, you want to watch your TV show binge you don't even have to wait week to week to week right I know people who skip seasons just so they can binge at the end of the season right instant gratification. You want to go on a date you don't even have to learn how to be like you don't even have to learn and practice that skill you don't have to be the uncomfortable into insists is yes when you mean known says no when you mean no mean yes when you. You have to swipe right think I'm a stud right. You don't have to learn the social coping mechanisms everything you want. You can have instantaneously everything you want instant gratification except job satisfaction and strength of relationships there aren’t no app for that. They are slow meandering uncomfortable messy processes and so I keep meeting these wonderful fantastic idealistic hard-working smart kids they just graduated school. They're in their entry-level job, I sit down with them when I go hasn't going they go I think I'm gonna quit they're like I'm not making an impact.
I'm like you've been here eight months it's as if they're standing at the foot of a mountain and they have this abstract concept called impact but they want to have in the world which is the summit. What they don't see is the mountain. I don't care if you go up the mountain quickly or slowly but there's still a mountain and so what this young generation needs to learn is patience. that some things that really, really matter like love or job fulfillment joy love of life self-confidence a skill set any of these things all of these things take time. Sometimes you can expedite pieces of it but the overall journey is arduous and long and difficult and if you don't ask for help and learn that skill set you will fall off the mountain or you will the worst case scenario the worst case scenario and we're already seeing it the worst case scenario is we're seeing increase in suicide rates we're seeing an increase in this generation we're seeing increase in accidental deaths due to drug overdoses. We're seeing more and more kids drop out of school or take leaves of absence due to depression unheard of these are this is really bad the best-case scenario. The bet those are all bad cases, right! The best case scenario is you'll have an entire population growing up and going through life and just never really finding joy.
It'll never really find deep, deep fulfillment and work or in life they'll just walk through life and it'll change just it's fine how's your job it's fine the same is yesterday how's your relationship it's fine like that’s. The best-case scenario which leads me to the fourth point which is environment. 
Which is we're taking this amazing group of young fantastic kids would just dealt a bad hand it's no fault of their own and we put them in corporate environments that care more about the numbers than they do about the kids. They care more about the short-term gains than the long-term life of this young human being. We care more about the year than the lifetime, right! and so we are putting them in corporate environments that aren't helping them build their confidence.
That aren't helping them learn the skills of cooperation that aren't helping them overcome the challenges of a digital world and finding more balance. That isn't helping them overcome the need to have instant gratification and teach them the joys and impact when the fulfillment you get from working hard over on something for a long time. That cannot be done in a month or even in a year and so we're thrusting to them. Them in corporate environments and the worst part about, it is they think it's them they blame themselves they can't they think it's them who can't deal and so it makes it all worse, it's not I'm here to tell them it's not them it's the corporations.
It's the corporate environments it's the total lack of good leadership in our world today that is making them feel the way they do. They would dealt a bad hand in it and I hate to say it but it's the company's responsibility sucks to be you like we have no choice, right! this is what we got and I wish that society and their parents did a better job they didn't so we're goanna we're getting them in our companies and we now have to pick up the slack we have to work extra hard to figure out the ways that we build their confidence. We have to work extra hard to find ways to teach them social. 
The social skills that they're missing out on there should be no cell phones and conference rooms none zero and I don't mean the kind of like sitting outside waiting to text. I mean like when you're sitting and waiting for a meeting to start nobody go this is what we all do. We all sit here and wait for the meeting to start meaning starting okay. When we start the meeting no that's not how relationships are formed remember we talked about it's the little things relationships were formed this way we're waiting for a meeting to start me go how's your dad? I heard he was in hospital! oh he's really good, thanks for asking! He's actually at home there it was really amazing. I know it was really scary for them that's how you form relationships hey did you ever get that report on oh my god no I didn't. I'll help you out I totally uh can I help you out with that really that's how trust forms. 
Trust doesn't form at an event in a day even bad times don't form trust immediately, it's the slow steady consistency and we have to create mechanisms where we allow for those little innocuous interactions to happen but when we allow cell phones and companies we just okay have a meeting and then my favorite is like when there's a cell phone there and you go like that you go it rings ago I'm not gonna answer that Mr. magnanimous. 
You know when you're out for dinner with your friends like. I do this with my friends, when we're going out for dinner and we're leaving together we'll leave our cellphones at home. Who are we calling maybe one of us will bring a phone in case we need to pull a new booth or take a picture of our meal ideal it's been about the same I mean it looked really good we'll take one phone and so it's like an alcoholic. The reason you take the alcohol out of the house sweet is because we cannot trust our willpower.

We're just not strong enough but when you remove the temptation it actually makes it a lot easier and so when you just say don't check your phone people literally will go like this and somebody will go to the bathroom and what's the first thing we do because I wouldn't want to look around the restaurant for a minute and a half but if you don't have the phone you just kind of enjoy the world and that's where ideas happen. The constant, constant, constant engagement is not where you have innovation and ideas, ideas happen when our minds wander and we go and you see something on can do that that's called innovation right but we're taking away all those little moments right you should not and none of us none of us should charge our phones by our beds we should be charging our phones in the living rooms right remove the temptation you wake up in the middle of night cuz you can't sleep you won't check your phone which makes it worse but if it's in the living room it's relaxed it's fine. Hiya! but it's my alarm clock fine alarm clock they cost $8 I'll buy you but the point is we now in industry whether we like it or not we don't get a choice we now have a responsibility to make up the shortfall and to help this amazing idealistic, fantastic generation build their countries learn patience learn the social skills find a better balance between life and technology because quite frankly it's. It’s the right thing to do.
